Samsung was founded in 1938 by Lee Byung-chull they produce consumer electronics, telecom, ships, construction, financial services, retail, entertainment and even medical services; with an annual revenue of about $247.5 billion dollars in 2011.

The largest subsidiary that Samsung holds is “Samsung Electronics” holds the title of the worlds largest information technology company; being measured by the companies total 2011 revenues.

“Samsung Heavy Industries” is the worlds second largest shipbuilder and “Samsung Engineering” is currently the worlds 32 largest construction company.

Samsung is number 14th in the world when it come to insurance; and the mega-company even owns the oldest theme park in South Korea. The company accounts for about 1/5th of the total exports for South Korea with a revenue larger then it’s home country’s GDP.

Samsung started out as Samsung Sanghoe, being only a small trading company with under 50 employees. Samsung Sanghoe spent its efforts in groceries produced in the city of Su-dong (currently Ingyo-dong); they even produced their own brand of noodle.
